Stroke Support Group Meets Via Zoom on May 5
The regional Stroke Support Group hosted by UR Medicine Thompson Health will meet on Thursday, May 5. The meeting will be held at 1 p.m., via Zoom. It will feature occupational therapists from Strong Memorial Hospital, who will discuss tools/strategies when living with the use of one arm or with weakened extremities.
Thompson’s monthly support group is open to stroke survivors as well as their loved ones and caregivers. To sign up for the May 5 meeting, email

Surgeons Holding Virtual Hernia Screening Clinic May 4
UR Medicine Thompson Health is hosting a free Virtual Hernia Screening Clinic on Wednesday, May 4, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The event will feature four general surgeons from Thompson Health Advanced Surgical Services, which is a part of F.F. Thompson Hospital. Dr. A. David Peter, Dr. Joseph Talarico, Dr. Theodor Kaufman and Dr. Andrew Powers will perform private, virtual screenings of participants. To register for a screening – to be held via Zoom – call Advanced Surgical Services at (585) 978-8350. Space is limited, with a registration deadline of May 3.
Prior to the screenings, participants are encouraged to view a video presentation at ThompsonHealth.com/Hernia. The presentation features hernia causes and symptoms, as well as the benefits of minimally-invasive surgery using daVinci® robotic-assisted technology.

We will accept books, audio & music CD’s, and DVD movies in good condition. We cannot accept VHS tapes, audiobooks on cassette, magazines, Reader Digest condensed books, or old Encyclopedia sets. We will accept new and gently-used purses at Wood Library during regular business hours and on May 6 & 7. We cannot accept suitcases or duffle bags.

Featured Event: British Car Show
The Ontario County Historical Society (OCHS) is hosting a classic British Car Show at Onanda Park, West Lake Road, in Canandaigua, NY. Classic car owners and spectators alike will be able to enjoy the perfect combination of cars, food, and history alongside Canandaigua Lake. The spring weather with the amazing view of classic British cars (pre 1997 production) along Canandaigua Lake make this an event to get out of the house for! A variety of food will be available.
Car owners can enter their car by registering at the link below for $20. All registered cars will be eligible to win people’s choice awards in multiple categories: Pre-1980, 1980 – 1997, Overall, and a special MGB category for the 60th anniversary.

Admission for the public is free and all spectators receive a ballot to vote for their favorite cars.

Hosmer Winery is home to Patrician Verona Vineyard which is comprised of nearly 70 acres of grapes that provide Hosmer Winery with the fruit to remain a fully functioning estate winery.
In 1972, Cameron & Maren Hosmer planted the first vines in the soils which now make up Patrician Verona Vineyard. Now, 50 years later, the 70 acres of vines flourish and provide quality grapes for a number of wine producers in New York State.

Family Friendly Cinco De Mayo
Despite what many people believe Cinco de Mayo (May 5) is not Mexican Independence Day. However during the battle of Puebla, the greatly outnumbered Mexican forces were victorious over the French through the guidance of Ignacio Zaragoza. When the people in California heard of this battle that lasted from daybreak until early evening, they celebrated for their neighbors to the south. Read More.
Should I DIY or Hire?
There can be a number of reasons why your current home could use some remodeling or sprucing up. There are some valid reasons to try to keep up with the Joneses.
