Nurse-Midwife Now Accepting New Patients at CMG
UR Medicine Thompson Health Certified Nurse-Midwife Bridget LaGro is now accepting new patients.
Bridget LaGro
LaGro first joined the Obstetrics & Gynecology practice at the health system’s Canandaigua Medical Group in May.
With a master’s in nurse-midwifery from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Ky., LaGro received her nurse-midwife training at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and at the Mayo Clinic and Hospital in Eau Claire, Wis. Previously, she worked as a registered nurse in neonatal intensive care units in Madison, where she was also a childbirth educator. She is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board and a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
The Canandaigua Medical Group is an affiliate of F.F. Thompson Hospital. Its OB-GYN practice has four locations and LaGro is based at the one in Canandaigua. She is one of three nurse-midwives with the practice, which also has five physicians – all of whom perform surgical procedures – as well as a family nurse practitioner and a physician assistant.

Six Receive Service Excellence Awards From Thompson
UR Medicine Thompson Health’s Service Excellence Team (SET) recently announced the 2022 third-quarter recipients of the health system’s Service Excellence Awards.
Individuals receiving the awards were as follows:

The Service Excellence Award acknowledges Thompson associates who consistently deliver exceptional service. The SET selects award recipients quarterly, after reviewing system leaders’ submissions of compliments from patients, families and coworkers.

Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards has a long agricultural history that goes well beyond wine. The winery’s name itself reveals a bit of its story.
In 1852, the Hazlitt family purchased 153 acres in Hector, NY, already planted with fruit trees and vineyards. And while grapes thrived there for more than a century, the winery itself didn’t come along until 1985.
In the 37 years since the family became winemakers, Hazlitt 1852 has grown into one of the largest family-owned wineries in the Finger Lakes. They opened a second location in 2011, Hazlitt Red Cat Cellars in Naples, where they produce one of the state’s most popular wines, Red Cat.
Now, the family can proudly add winning the Governor’s Cup, the top award at the 36th annual New York Wine Classic, to their growing list of accolades and accomplishments. Awarded to the winery with the entry judged “Best of Show” of all wines submitted, Hazlitt earned the honor for its Solera Sherry. This year, the Governor’s Cup was an unexpected tie, and Hazlitt shares the celebrated prize with Long Island’s Wölffer Estate Vineyard for its 2020 Diosa Late-Harvest. Both wineries also tied for Best Dessert Wine.

Pork Butt
This cut of pork doesn’t come from the rear of the animal at all. It is from the shoulder and can include the tenderloin. It is butchered into a sort of wedge shape and comes in lots of different sizes or weights. It is a tougher piece of meat with lots of connective tissue, which makes it well suited to a slow cooker or braising. Read More.
