TLPNs, CNAs Invited to Long-Term Care Job Fair

Licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants who have a calling when it comes to caring for our community’s elders are invited to attend UR Medicine Thompson Health’s Long-Term Care Job Fair on Wednesday, December 18.

The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. in the lobby of the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, located next to Thompson Hospital at 350 Parrish St. in Canandaigua. It will include on-site interviews with hiring managers as well as door prizes. For details, visit 

Lymphedema Support Group Meets Dec. 17

UR Medicine Thompson Health is hosting a Lymphedema Support Group on Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 5 to 6 p.m. at its Canandaigua Rehabilitation Center, 699 S. Main St.

The group is facilitated by Occupational Therapist and Licensed Massage Therapist Angela Kiklowicz, whose certifications include certification in Complete Decongestive Therapy for the treatment of lymphedema and other chronic swelling disorders.

Dementia Warning Signs

Everybody forgets stuff.  You can't recall a name; you can't remember why you walked into a room; you lost your keys...again.  Mostly it is because we are overwhelmed with other thoughts, stress from work, or other issues. Read More.

Sweet Rolls and Breads

Baked and yeasty, sweet rolls or breads can be eaten for breakfast or dessert.  Compared to standard bread, they have more eggs, sugar, and fat. Often they are combined with fruits, spices, or nuts and are frequently iced or glazed.  No, doughnuts are not considered sweet rolls.  Yes, they are very close but generally doughnuts are fried.  There are some cake doughnuts that are baked but the people who make these rules say they are still not considered sweet rolls. Read more.
