Walk-in Flu Clinic Slated for December 27
Thompson is hosting a walk-in flu clinic on Tuesday, December 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Farmington Urgent Care, 1160 Corporate Drive in Farmington.
Vaccines are available for everyone age 9 and up. For those 65 and older, we are offering a high-dose flu vaccine containing an additional antigen designed to create a stronger immune response. Please note, the high-dose vaccine is available in limited quantities, while supplies last.
Flu shots are free to patients with insurance (please present insurance cards). The self-pay cost for those without insurance is $40 ($75 for the high-dose vaccine).
‘Live Well, Be Well’ Series Starts January 4
The Wellness Department from UR Medicine Thompson Health is conducting a free, six-week workshop called “Live Well, Be Well: Take Charge of Your Health,” focusing on a researched-based chronic disease self-management program developed by Stanford University.
Beginning January 4, the class will meet from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Wednesday – through February 8 – at the Ontario County Safety Training Center, 2914 County Road 48 in Hopewell. It is for anyone with a chronic health condition or anyone who is a caregiver for someone with a chronic health condition including but not limited to arthritis, asthma, diabetes, emphysema, heart disease, lung disease, or Parkinson’s.
Participants will learn how to build a more effective relationship with their doctors; how to communicate with family and friends about their condition; eating tips to help them feel better; how to manage medications; how to set and achieve goals; and how to deal with pain, frustration, isolation, and lack of energy. In addition, participants will explore developing an exercise routine.

Legislation Changing Alcohol Permitting Process for Catering Companies Geneva, NY, United States / Finger Lakes Daily News
New legislation signed by the governor will change how catering companies can serve alcohol.
Eligible catering facilities will now be able to obtain a license to serve liquor at weddings, banquets, and similar events offsite from the catering facility itself.
Previously, such businesses needed to apply for temporary permits in order to serve alcoholic beverages with the selection being limited to beer, cider, or wine.
Now, catering companies that have a kitchen but not the capacity seat at least 50 people can apply for an off premises catering license, allowing them to serve liquor in addition to beer, wine, and cider.
“Let’s raise a glass to newlyweds, whose love and mutual affection are an inspiration to us all,” Governor Hochul said. “By signing this new law, we are taking a significant step to support caterers and other small businesses — while helping married couples plan the celebration they’ve always dreamed of. I’m proud to sign this bill into law and will keep fighting for our hospitality sector and all small businesses.”

Kids Disappointed at the Holidays
