Meeting the Potential In-laws over the Holidays
Meeting your partner's family is always a bit daunting. Doing it during the end of the year holidays can be even more stressful.
Before the initial meet, discuss with your partner what you would like to see as an outcome. Both of you should openly discuss any family dynamics and important traditions on both sides. Discuss what commitments have been made for the holidays including the details. If there are some things about which you are strenuously adamant, let your partner know and find out if he or she will back you up on your stand. If you have serious concerns, it may be worth your time and money to book a session with a couples therapist to be sure you can navigate the holidays as well as possible. Read More.

So, if you have a concern about allergic reactions, be alerted. They also frequently require something being melted in the microwave or on top of the stove. This should be handled by an adult or a tween/teen who has experience in the kitchen. Read more.
