Canandaigua Native Joins Canandaigua Medical Group

Family Nurse Practitioner Katie Schaeffer McCool recently joined the Internal Medicine Department at UR Medicine Thompson Health’s Canandaigua Medical Group.

Born and raised in Canandaigua, McCool is a resident of Shortsville who first joined Thompson in 2008 as a pharmacy technician. Most recently, she was an urgent care provider for the health system, where she has also worked as a registered nurse in the ICU and as an eRecord-credentialed trainer.

Certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, McCool obtained her bachelor’s in nursing from the St. John Fisher University Wegmans School of Nursing in Rochester and her master’s as a nurse practitioner – with a certificate in education – from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Rochester.

Thompson to Host January 23 Job Fair

UR Medicine Thompson Health is hosting a job fair from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, at F.F. Thompson Hospital.

The job fair will take place in the cafeteria, which is located on the ground floor of the hospital’s Constellation Center for Health and Healing. This portion of the hospital is best accessed via The Thompson Way, a private drive just off West Street.

Hiring managers will be on hand for on-site interviews during the job fair.

Open positions include registered nurses, nurse leaders, radiology technicians, long-term care licensed professional nurses and certified nursing assistants, family medicine nurse practitioners and physician assistants, medical social workers, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, clinical secretaries, physical therapists, athletic trainers, insurance/billing associates, and entry-level Nutrition Services associates.

The health system is Ontario County’s largest employer and has been named to the “Top 150 Places to Work in Healthcare” list by

Maintenance Insomnia
