Each $2,000 scholarship went to a recipient majoring in a health-related field who must successfully complete their first college semester with the intent to continue in health care.
The recipients were as follows:
Grace Davis of Canandaigua Academy is the recipient of the Gail D. O’Brien Memorial Scholarship. She will attend Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), pursuing a five-year bachelor’s/master’s degree in the Physician Assistant program.
Johnathan Finewood of Midlakes High School is the recipient of the Phyllis Ehmann Memorial Scholarship. He has been accepted to SUNY Cortland, to study biology.

The Thompson Health Guild is the auxiliary of UR Medicine Thompson Health, fundraising for the nonprofit organization to support capital campaigns; purchase medical equipment; and offer programs for hospital patients, nursing home residents, staff members and community members. Also during its Annual Meeting, which was held at Thompson’s independent living community of Ferris Hills at West Lake, the Guild presented the F.F. Thompson Foundation with $40,000 to support the health system.

Benefit Concert Raises $15,000 for Thompson Health Fund
A recent concert by singer and guitar player Don Potter raised approximately $15,000 for a fund within UR Medicine Thompson Health to help entry-level associates advance their careers.

Don Potter
Thompson’s Healthcare Education Fund sponsors stipends for Thompson associates who are pursuing higher education, making it possible for them to work part-time while attending school. The stipends help cover lost wages, childcare, and/or transportation to minimize challenges and help the associates gain the skills necessary to raise their income levels or even lift themselves out of poverty.
“Thompson is extremely grateful to Don and to his fellow musicians for this benefit concert. It was a fantastic evening, and it will have a direct impact on our hardworking, highly deserving associates,” said F.F. Thompson Foundation Director Heather Rickett, extending special thanks to concert organizer Doug Emblidge and adding, “Our nonprofit organization is very fortunate to have friends like Doug.”

Even if it is not a hectic time or even summer, it is nice to enjoy a meal you don’t need to prepare yourself. Read more.
