Ferris Hills to Host Parkinson’s Presentation

The community is invited to hear Inga Simning, a speech pathologist with UR Medicine Thompson Health, give a presentation about a program for people with Parkinson’s disease on Wednesday, July 24, at Ferris Hills at West Lake.

The 10:30 a.m. program is free and open to the public. It will be held in Rayburn Hall at the independent living community, located on Peg Rayburn Drive with the campus accessed via either West Lake Road (County Road 16) or Middle Cheshire Road.

Inga Simning

Simning will discuss SPEAK OUT!®, a therapeutic protocol developed by the Parkinson Voice Project to improve and preserve the voices of individuals with Parkinson’s disease and Parkinson-plus syndromes. The treatment, offered at Thompson Hospital, can also minimize swallowing issues.

Thompson Hosting Job Fair Aug. 8

Thompson Health is inviting the community to a Job Fair on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Constellation for Health and Healing at Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St. in Canandaigua.

The health system is Ontario County’s largest employer and was named to the 2024 

Becker’s Hospital Review

 list of “Top 150 Places to Work in Healthcare.” F.F. Thompson Hospital has received Magnet® designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center consistently since 2004, and the health system’s M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center has a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Currently, there are openings for nurses, radiology technicians, a Diagnostic Imaging nurse leader, an assistant nurse manager in long-term care, nurse practitioners and physician assistants at the urgent care locations, medical social workers, pharmacy professionals, physical therapists/athletic trainers, entry-level Nutrition Services associates, and positions within insurance/billing.

Last night, the New York Wine & Grape Foundation announced the top winners of the 2024 New York Wine Classic, a nationally recognized competition highlighting the best of New York’s wine.
