New Owners of Local Bed and Breakfast

Welcome Greg and Lilly DeForest-Campbell of 1897 Beekman House Bed and Breakfast!

From Greg and Lily: "We are both sommeliers and former restaurant managers with over four decades between us of experience in the hospitality industry. We met in New York City, but Lilly is originally from the Finger Lakes region, and it has long been a dream of ours to move back to the area and run a bed and breakfast right in the middle of what we consider to be the finest wine region in the eastern United States. When we first set eyes on 1897 Beekman House, we instantly fell in love. One year and lots of hard work later, we are ready to resume operations. This is a dream come true for us, and we cannot wait to continue the tradition of excellent service and gracious hospitality that was established by Chuck and Gerry France!

We will continue to offer guided wine tours, as well as gourmet, three-course breakfasts, and of course, luxurious accommodations in our five gorgeous rooms. Lilly will be baking fresh, delicious pastries, and Greg will be providing the breakfast main courses and delectable, homemade bread. Some food offerings may change, but we promise they will meet the high standards you have come to expect at 1897 Beekman House. If you are a returning guest with a favorite breakfast, Chef Chuck has been kind enough to share many of his best-loved recipes, so let us know and we will be happy to prepare it during your stay.

1897 Beekman House is reopening for business with expanded days of operation starting on Wednesday, March 24th. Please feel free to send us a message with any questions or comments, or contact us by phone at 1897 Beekman House’s new telephone number: (315) 412-2697, or at [email protected]. We look forward to meeting you soon!"

Thompson Urgent Cares Now Offering Asymptomatic TestingEffective Tuesday, March 9, all three of UR Medicine Thompson Health’s urgent care locations are offering COVID-19 rapid antigen testing to those with no symptoms and no known exposures to COVID-positive individuals.President/CEO Michael F. Stapleton, Jr. said until this point in the pandemic, hospitals like Thompson have needed to stay focused on caring for the sick, as well as testing those with symptoms and those who are scheduled for procedures or surgeries. Given the decline in cases across the region, he added, Thompson is excited to now be able to open testing up to all.Thompson’s urgent care locations – affiliated with F.F. Thompson Hospital – are at 699 S. Main St. in Canandaigua, 1160 Corporate Drive in Farmington and 800 W. Miller St. in Newark. For their hours and for additional information, visit www.ThompsonHealth.com/UrgentCare.Please note that while COVID tests for patients with symptoms or exposures to COVID-positive people can be billed through most insurances, tests for asymptomatic, no-exposure patients involve a total self-pay charge of $75. Results for the new rapid antigen test will be given – typically within 15 minutes – before the patient leaves the center. COVID-19 Vaccine Offered to Eligible Hospital PatientsAfter receiving a limited supply from the state, UR Medicine Thompson Hospital on March 5 began offering the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine to its inpatients and Observation Unit patients who are eligible under the state’s current vaccine guidelines.“We are very glad we are able to provide this service to those patients who qualify, and our hope is to offer more if we get more doses allotted from the state,” said President/CEO Michael F. Stapleton Jr.Currently, through the state’s phased distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, those eligible include individuals over the age of 65 as well as those who are 18 to 64 years of age and have a chronic condition. For a full list of New Yorkers who are currently eligible as well as other vaccine information, visit https://covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/.To date, Thompson has administered nearly 8,900 doses of the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines. This total includes health system employees as well as individuals in the Phase 1A and 1B categories. The total does not include residents of Thompson’s nursing home and independent living community, who were vaccinated through the federal Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care (LTC) Program. Several nursing home employees received their vaccinations through the federal program as well.
