Thompson to Host Info Session on Becoming a CNA March 25
UR Medicine Thompson Health is hosting an information session at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 25, for those interested in beginning careers as certified nursing assistants (CNAs).
Thompson covers the entire cost of the five-week CNA training course and pays participants while enrolled, with part-time benefits beginning immediately. Course graduates are guaranteed a CNA position at Thompson’s M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, which has a five-star overall rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Newly hired CNAs are expected to remain employed – in a full- or part-time position – for at least one year from certification. If they plan to further their education, they are eligible for tuition reimbursement initiatives and grants from Thompson, as well as promotional opportunities.
The one-hour information session will be held at the Continuing Care Center, 350 Parrish Street in Canandaigua. Participants must sign up in advance by emailing

Lymphedema Support Group Meets April 16
Thompson Health’s Lymphedema Support Group is scheduled to meet from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, at Thompson’s Canandaigua Rehabilitation Center, 699 S. Main St., Suite 3.
This group welcomes anyone looking for support in dealing with all types of lymphedema. For more information, call 585-396-6050.

Riesling is made in numerous New and Old World regions: Alsace, Australia, Austria, all throughout Germany, New York State’s Finger Lakes, Oregon, and Washington State to name a few. It is one of the most food-friendly and age-worthy wines, some capable of cellaring for decades. Though many consumers believe it to be a sweet wine (and Riesling does make delicious sweet dessert wines), for the most part, they are dry table wines—some searingly and excitingly so.

Autism Spectrum Disorder
These days one often hears the term that someone is “on the spectrum”. Of course, they are referring to the developmental disability autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The study of this disorder is barely in its infancy. We do know that sometimes it is a genetic condition, but sometimes not. In those other instances, the professionals don’t always have a definitive cause. Read More.
Indigo
On the rainbow spectrum, indigo is a combination of purple or violet and blue. Since it is a hybrid, it is considered secondary or complementary on the color wheel. However, whether indigo really belongs here is still up for debate. Read more.
