Two Thompson Grief Support Group Meetings in March
In order to better accommodate people with different schedules, UR Medicine Thompson Health will begin holding two grief support groups each month rather than just once per month.
The first March meeting will take place on Friday, March 13, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the George M. Ewing Jr. Conference Room, which is on the ground floor of the Constellation Center for Health and Healing at Thompson Hospital.
The second March meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 24, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Sands Conference Room on the ground floor of the Thompson Professional Building.
Both locations are at the back of the hospital and best accessed via a private drive called The Thompson Way, which is off West Street and just south of The Eye Care Center.
For information about Thompson’s grief support groups, which are for any community members who have experienced a loss through death, email [email protected] or call Thompson’s Spiritual Care office at 585-396-6486.
Thompson Awarded Second Mental Health America Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health
UR Medicine Thompson Health is proud to announce that it has once again received a 2026 Gold Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health, the nation’s top recognition for U.S. employers committed to creating mentally healthy workplaces.
The Bell Seal is issued by Mental Health America, the nation’s leading nonprofit dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being of all people living in the U.S.
“We are extremely proud of the hard work our Associate Wellness, Associate Services, and Spiritual Care teams put into making sure Thompson Health provides the tools and resources our associates need in order to ensure they feel supported, and they feel comfortable reaching out for help if they are struggling with their mental health,” said Thompson Health Vice President of Associate Services/Wellness Jennifer DeVault. “Receiving this award a second time is additional validation of all this hard work and lets us know we are still on the right track. Also, having access to the MHA’s data helps us plan for the future as we strive to offer even more helpful programs. For that, we are grateful.”
Thompson, which first received a Gold Bell Seal in 2025, was evaluated on its policies and practices in four areas: culture, benefits, compliance, and whole-health wellness programs.
Among the initiatives Thompson offers its associates are Mental Health First Aid training, Success Coaching, and support from the Spiritual Care Department as well as a host of wellness initiatives. There is also a Zen Relaxation Room in the hospital, open to associates 24/7, and Zen kits for offsite locations.
