Rose Walk Canceled for Second Consecutive Year, Donations SoughtThe committee for UR Medicine Thompson Health’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Rose Walk recently elected to cancel the 2021 Rose Walk due to the limitations placed on the event by adherence to public health guidelines surrounding the ongoing pandemic. “Thompson’s most important priority is protecting and advancing the health and well-being of our community. It is the right thing to do,” said Heather Williams, clinical coordinator of Cardiac Rehabilitation at the hospital. Typically held each June at Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park in Canandaigua, Rose Walk is a family-oriented event that over the past 23 years has raised more than $300,000 for Thompson’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program. The program combines education, medically-supervised exercise and camaraderie to restore heart disease survivors’ stamina and a sense of well-being. Williams said as the committee looks forward to Rose Walk 2022, the hope is that community members who have supported Rose Walk in the past will consider sending donations to ensure all local heart disease survivors can have access to cardiac rehabilitation without the added stress of financial constraints.
