The National Women’s Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls has appointed Dr. Kristen Oehlrich as its new CEO and Executive Director. The Hall also announced its next induction ceremony will take place in Rochester in 2026, expanding its regional footprint.

Rare Fifth Magnet Designation for F.F. Thompson Hospital
Fewer than 2 percent of U.S. hospitals have a fifth such recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
F.F. Thompson Hospital, an affiliate of UR Medicine, has achieved its fifth consecutive Magnet® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
The designation is considered one of the ultimate benchmarks for measuring the quality of patient care and signifies that Thompson’s nurses – supported by other members of the hospital’s team – meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence.
Fewer than 10 percent of U.S. hospitals are Magnet-recognized facilities. Approximately 1.5 percent have received a fifth designation, with the majority of them being larger, academic hospitals such as UR Medicine affiliate Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Like Strong, Thompson Hospital has been a Magnet hospital since 2004. This fifth designation, which follows the gathering of extensive documentation as well as a public comment period and a September site visit from the ANCC, runs through 2029.

“Our success stems from the exceptional dedication our nursing professionals demonstrate every day in delivering outstanding patient care. This recognition validates our commitment to nursing excellence and reinforces our reputation as a healthcare leader. It reflects the innovation, expertise, and compassionate care that define our nursing culture,” said Thompson Health Vice President of Patient Care Services/CNO Hazel Robertshaw.
In addition to achieving the re-designation, Thompson was cited by the ANCC as an “exemplar” in nine areas, all of which fall under the category of Exemplary Professional Practice. These recognitions are for outperforming national benchmarks in a number of areas including exceptional work in reducing falls with injury, catheter-associated urinary tract infections, and Clostridioides difficile (C-Difficile) infections. The exemplars also include efforts in preventing surgical burns in the operating room and our effective hemoglobin A1c management in primary care. In addition, Thompson’s commitment to patient-centered care was further acknowledged with exemplars in the Care Coordination, Courtesy and Respect, Pain, and Safety domains
The ANCC National Magnet Conference® is slated to be held in Chicago next October, and Thompson will be among the hospitals celebrated.
