Two Thompson Walk-in Flu Clinics Remain
Of the six community flu clinics Thompson Health scheduled for this fall, only two remain:
Monday, Oct. 13, 3 to 6 p.m., Veterans Park, 6910 Routes 5 & 20, Bloomfield
Wednesday, Oct. 15, 3 to 6 p.m., Victor Fire Department, 34 Maple Ave., Victor
The vaccine is administered to those 9 and older at these clinics. There also is a high-dose flu vaccine for those 65 and older. This contains additional antigen designed to create a stronger immune response for the recipient.
The flu shots are free to patients with insurance (patients must present an insurance card at the time of the visit). The self-pay cost for those without insurance is $45, and $80 for the high-dose vaccine (cash, check, MasterCard, or Visa). Visit www.ThompsonHealth.com/flu or call 585-924-1550 for more information.
If you canât make it to one of the clinics, walk-in vaccines are also available at Thompsonâs two outpatient pharmacies: Canandaigua Medical Group Pharmacy at 335 Parrish St. in Canandaigua, and Victor Medical Group Pharmacy at 53 W. Main St. in Victor. For hours and additional information, visit www.ThompsonHealth.com/Pharmacy.

Where Tradition, Technology and Community Meet

BANNED BOOKS WEEK
October 5-11
Books are still being banned and challenged today. A challenge is an attempt to remove or restrict materials, based upon the objections of a person or group. A banning is the removal of those materials.
While books have been and continue to be banned, part of the Banned Books Week celebration is the fact that, in a majority of cases, the books have remained available. This happens only thanks to the efforts of librarians, teachers, students, and community members who stand up and speak out for the freedom to read.
