Thompson Named to ‘Great Community Hospitals’ List
F.F. Thompson Hospital was recently named to the list of “153 Great Community Hospitals” released by
Becker’s Hospital Review,
a Chicago-based publication featuring business and legal information for healthcare industry leaders.
“These community hospitals are lauded for their clinical excellence, compassionate care and economic impact on their communities,” a
Becker’s
article stated, noting its editorial team selected hospitals based on several outside rankings and ratings, and that hospitals could not pay for inclusion.
Founded in 1904, Thompson is one of eight hospitals in New York state included on the list, with Guthrie Corning Hospital being the only other one in the Finger Lakes region.
“We are fortunate to be a part of an exceptional community and to have incredible people within our organization,” said Thompson Health President/CEO Michael F. Stapleton, Jr. “They work hard every day to deliver the absolute best care possible, and they are what make our ‘Great Community Hospital’ great.”
Thompson to Host CPR/AED Course for Community Sept. 16
F.F. Thompson Hospital is hosting an American Heart Association “Heartsaver” CPR/AED Course for the community on Saturday, Sept. 16.
Sponsored by Thompson’s Nursing Practice Counsel in collaboration with the Canandaigua Emergency Squad, the course will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Thompson Conference Center (“TCC”) on the ground floor of the hospital, which is located at 350 Parrish St. in Canandaigua. Emergency squad personnel and Thompson nurses will provide instruction in both cardiopulmonary resuscitation and how to use an
automated external defibrillator.
The course is open to ages 12 and up, although anyone between the ages of 12 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Registration is $25 per person – to cover the cost of the official certification card – and the class size is limited. To sign up, call Thompson’s Wellness Department 585-396-6111.
