Ferris Hills to Host Classic Car Cruise-In Sept. 7
UR Medicine Thompson Health’s independent living community, Ferris Hills at West Lake, is hosting a Classic Car Cruise-In on Thursday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Community members are invited to bring a lawn chair and enjoy a leisurely afternoon in Ferris Hills’ courtyard, where there will be music and $2 hot dogs.
The community is located at 1 Ferris Hills, off Peg Rayburn Drive. Visitors may enter the campus from the 3300 block of West Lake Road or from Middle Cheshire Road, just south of Crosswinds Wesleyan Church.
The rain date for the car show is Sept. 8.

Thompson Offers Senior Fitness Training
UR Medicine Thompson Health offers Senior Fitness Training, a four-week, 10-session fitness program designed to help active seniors maintain a healthy lifestyle by improving strength, flexibility, endurance, and balance.
Training sessions are one-on-one, with a certified senior fitness instructor. Prior to training, participants receive a fitness evaluation. Results are used to create a customized exercise plan tailored to individual needs.
The cost is $120, due at the time of the pre-test. Paperwork filled out by a physician is required.

Jim Cecere returned to Geneva after life in the big city with a goal of creating businesses that highlight the best of the Finger Lakes.
His first retail effort in Geneva — launched at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 — was Finger Lakes Goods on Linden Street, a business highlighting locally produced products ranging from coffee to cookies. Tasting and smelling are two senses that allow us to enjoy food, and actually help us avoid toxins. The human tongue is covered in bumps called papillae. Inside these bumps are what we call taste buds that have cells that can detect flavors. They are neurotransmitters that send signals to the brain to let it know what is in your mouth. Read More.

Living Through a Home Renovation
Going through a home renovation is less than enjoyable. Besides the loud noise, disruption, dust, and delays, there is the basic inconvenience of people moving around your space and the annoyance of missing everything you need to live through a day and night.
