UR Medicine Thompson Health is committed to using 100% of every COVID-19 vaccine allotment it receives. These vaccines have a very short shelf life and once a vial is opened, all of the doses within that vial must be administered within hours.

This week, Thompson has been hosting its scheduled second-dose clinics and noting periodic “no-shows” and/or excess vaccine inventory. When this occurs, Thompson is calling its patients and inviting them in for a same-day vaccination. Patient lists are randomized and include everyone who qualifies under the current vaccine distribution phase.

Thompson is not collecting names on a waiting list and is not able to accommodate individual vaccine requests at this time. Thompson is also not yet offering public sign-ups for people seeking their first vaccine dose. If you are interested in attending the first available clinic in this area, Thompson recommends (in addition to following its website and main Facebook page) that you attempt to sign up on the state website:

Thompson is aware that not everyone has computer or internet access, but vaccines should be available – for those eligible – at pharmacies, hospitals and through local health departments statewide soon.

Things are better today for local wineries, overall. Few are thriving, but most are hanging on and I think we’re all hopeful that the newly available vaccines will help us all get back to some semblance of normalcy at some point in 2021.

That said –  local wineries still need the support of their biggest fans. That support is the only reason they’ve been able to make it to this point.

Meet Angela Monaco MaCallister, Canandaigua Wine Trail's Second Chairwoman

The Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail has chosen a new Chairwoman! Angela Monaco MacAllister of

was unanimously voted as Chair during the December 2020 meeting. As the second Chairwoman in the Trail’s history, Angela steps in at a critical point for our wine region, small business partners and the Trail. We sat down with Angela to get her take on everything!

Get It Done in 2021

2020 is finally in the rear-view mirror, after introducing a new reality that threw everyday life for a loop. In addition to the health scare caused by the pandemic, many people had a hard time adjusting: they felt out of control of their own lives.

Don’t Let Mother Nature Ruin Your Floors

No matter what kind of floors you have, rough weather conditions can quickly cause serious damage to them. Refer to these tips when a winter storm hits to protect the integrity of the flooring in your home.

Classic Hummus (great for game day!)

This truly is the most delicious and easy-to-make recipe in the world. Throw everything into the blender and voilà! Use it for a sandwich spread, a dip for raw veggies, or a spread for just plain old pitas. It’s a great source of plant-based protein that even kids love.
