Finger Lakes Connected | News and Events!

Kindness is a great resolution to work on in the new year. While most of us can say this is easy, it can be challenging when things are not going your way or you hear some bad news. Try to spread kindness to all.  It not only helps others, but it will help you too!

We want to congratulate Bonnie from Bloomfield who won the $100 gift certificate from Casa de Pasta!

As a reminder, contact us if you'd like to advertise your business or event.

Cheers,

Don

A MESSAGE FROM THOMPSON’S PRESIDENT/CEO

Dear Thompson Friends and Supporters,

In addition to meeting the ongoing healthcare needs of our community during these unprecedented times, the associates of Thompson Health have been going above and beyond to provide COVID-19 vaccinations in accordance with New York State Department of Health mandates and guidelines.

While F.F. Thompson Hospital serves as a location for COVID-19 vaccination clinics, we have no say in determining who is eligible to receive the vaccine. Eligibility is determined by the New York State Department of Health and not by the hospitals dispensing the vaccines. The process is strictly enforced and no leeway is possible.

Vaccines are being made available in a phased roll-out. This means a rigorous, prioritized list has been created based on people’s exposure risks and other factors. We are currently in Phase 1A.

How Can I See if I’m Currently Eligible to Receive the Vaccine?

You can see who is included in each of the vaccine roll-out phases and determine your eligibility by clicking

.

We will continue working with the New York State Department of Health to receive ongoing allotments of both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Please bear with us as we move as quickly and safely as we can through this incredibly large and complicated undertaking. If you have remaining questions, please contact your local Health Department.

Thompson encourages you to

 as well as

frequently. In the meantime, continue to wear masks, avoid close contact with others and wash hands frequently to help prevent the spread of the virus in our community. Please stay safe.

Best wishes for good health,

Michael F. Stapleton, Jr. FACHE

From Miles Wine Cellars. Shop online now until 1/15/ 2021

You probably thought 2020 was never going to end!

However, as we teetered into early December, some good news emerged to brighten our weary spirits. COVID-19 vaccines were on the way. The presidential election was finally over, according to the Electoral College. And, if you are a lover of Finger Lakes wines, you might be rewarded with a vintage that may well be one of the finest in memory.

Here's an amazing autumn shot from

, located on Seneca Lake.

Doing Good to Feel Good

The holiday season has always been associated with giving back. Between gift giving and an increased interest in volunteering, it’s part of what makes that time of year so special. But as good as it can feel to be on the receiving end, it can feel even better knowing how much of an impact your good deeds have on others. And it’s not just a good feeling that can come from these positive actions. As it turns out, giving back has real benefits that can help improve your health in the long term. So if you’ve been thinking about giving back, do it—your health can’t wait!

Mind Matters

The brain is a fascinating organ. It helps us grow both physically and mentally, protects us, and runs a multitude of biological functions every second of every day. It literally keeps us alive without us … well, even having to think about it.

Loaded Potato Nachos

If you thought loaded nachos couldn’t be healthy, think again!
