Over 13,000 Years of Indigenous History in the Finger Lakes at Yates County History Center
Dr. Samantha Sanft will host a presentation titled “Over 13,000 Years of Indigenous History in the Finger Lakes Region” at 107 Chapel St. in Penn Yan. Admission costs $8 for Yates County History Center members and $12 for nonmembers. For more information, please call (315) 536-7318 or email [email protected].
This talk provides a long-term overview of the indigenous peoples of the Finger Lakes region from an archaeological perspective. Focusing on the Haudenosaunee, or Six Nations Iroquois, and their ancestors, this talk uses archaeological evidence to discuss long-term changes and continuities in material culture, settlement, subsistence, and trade – from the Ice Age to the 1600s.
Dr. Sanft is a postdoctoral associate at Cornell University, where she specializes in the archaeology of North American indigenous groups and community-engaged research. She completed her doctorate in anthropology with a minor in American Indian and indigenous studies at Cornell in 2021

The first release in the series was made with Gold Rush apples (available for tasting and purchase now). “Sweet-tart apples like Gold Rush are great in hard cider because they bring a more complex flavor than a simply sweet apple, and the spicy flavor of the Gold Rush gives the cider more depth.” – Brian Nicholson (Red Jacket President/CEO/Owner). Granny Smith will be released in July followed by Fuji in the fall.
Bombshell’s Premium Series is a collaborative effort with Red Jacket Orchards (Geneva, NY). Crafted with a commitment to quality, each cider in this series is a tribute to the art of cidermaking. At Three Brothers, we take great pride in using only the finest ingredients and adhering to the highest standards of craftsmanship.

Heat Related Illnesses
As temperatures start to climb, it is very easy to become overheated without realizing it. There is a whole progression of conditions that result from becoming overheated. It can happen to anyone of any age, from an infant, to a child, to a well conditioned adult, an out-of-shape adult, or a senior. Here is the general evolvement. Just remember that if you ignore a symptom or two, you can find yourself in real trouble. Read More.

Outdoor Grills
Outdoor grilling can become more of a way of life than a method of cooking, especially in the summer months. If your current grill has seen better days, you need to upgrade to a larger model, or you are just dipping your toes into the adventure, there are many things to consider when you are shopping for an outdoor grill. Air Fryer Zuchinni
Zucchini is a summer squash that is readily available through a great deal of the summer. Botanically it is a berry (yes, another one of those) but it is served as a vegetable or occasionally as part of a bread and is equally as delicious raw, cut into strips or rounds and served as a snack with or without a dip.
