At CJS Vineyards we finished our late winter pruning around the middle of March, removing several pounds of last year’s growth from every vine. We leave four or five canes (branches) on each vine to produce this year’s crop. We will burn the wood we removed to prevent any fungus that over-wintered from impacting the upcoming new growth.
