Three Receive Thompson’s Service Excellence Award
UR Medicine Thompson Health recently named three of its associates as first-quarter 2024 Service Excellence Award winners.
Chosen for the honor by the health system’s Service Excellence Team (SET) were:
Maria Arita of Canandaigua, an Environmental Services aide in the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center
Mandy McCann of Geneva, audit coordinator at Thompson’s Consolidated Business Office
Christine Wittreich of Honeoye, a patient relations representative in Clinical Quality
The Service Excellence Award acknowledges Thompson associates who consistently deliver exceptional service. The SET selects award recipients quarterly, after reviewing system leaders’ submissions of compliments from patients, families, and coworkers.
Ferris Hills to Host May 31 Bridge Tournament
Ferris Hills at West Lake is hosting a bridge tournament on Friday, May 31.
The tournament will include a buffet luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with bridge from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Players may choose either duplicate or social bridge, and gift cards will be awarded to winners.
Seating is limited and preregistration is required. The cost is $20 per person. Checks made payable can be sent to Ferris Hills at West Lake, 1 Ferris Hills, Canandaigua NY 14424, marked “Attn: Michele.”
An affiliate of UR Medicine Thompson Health, Ferris Hills at West Lake is located on Peg Rayburn Drive in Canandaigua, with the campus accessed via either West Lake Road (County Road 16) or Middle Cheshire Road.

spectrumlocalnews.com Looking to boost the success of Finger Lakes Riesling wines, more than two dozen wine professionals from around the country traveled to Geneva to play with blends in hopes they will put New York wines on shelves and menus back home. The Finger Lakes Wine Alliance and Cornell Agritech brought 24 wine professionals to learn about the Riesling variety from wineries and vineyards in the region to demonstrate its versatility. “It’s a chance to show industry professionals what’s going on in the Finger Lakes, showing them how we make the wine, how we grow grapes and what styles result from that,” said Chris Gerling, a senior extension associate in the enology department at Cornell University.
