Dr. Saurabh Joins Thompson’s Canandaigua Medical GroupUR Medicine Thompson Health recently welcomed Dr. Saurabh to the Internal Medicine Practice within its Canandaigua Medical Group, 335 Parrish Street in Canandaigua. He is accepting new patients, ages 18 and up.Dr. Saurabh A resident of Farmington, Dr. Saurabh is a graduate of the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences in Dehradun, India. He received his Bachelor of Medicine-Bachelor of Surgery at the Institute, followed by a Medical Degree in Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College in Meerut, India. Beginning his medical career as an emergency physician in New Delhi, India, in 2002, Dr. Saurabh has also practiced medicine in Mauritius and the West Indies. Having completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida, he worked as an associate professor and program director for the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine at its Bradenton campus.Dr. Saurabh is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Heart Association. Thompson Schedules 10 Flu Shot Clinics Throughout AreaUR Medicine Thompson Health will hold several public flu clinics in a number of locations over the next several weeks. Administered to those 9 and older at these clinics, the standard 2022-2023 vaccine provides protection against four flu virus strains. There also is a high-dose flu vaccine for those 65 and older. This contains additional antigen designed to create a stronger immune response for the recipient.Community members are asked to please wear masks to the clinics, as Thompson abides by CDC guidelines requiring masks in all locations where healthcare is being delivered.The schedule is as follows:

Finger Lakes Wines and Grapes: Saying bye to summer in the vineyard

In early August, things looked great in the vineyard — nice warm weather, some really hot days too, sunshine but not much rain. As the month progressed, we were abnormally dry, according to the USDA Northeast Drought monitor. We had minimal rain through Aug. 20, with a total of 0.3 inches at our Fosterville Vineyard weather station in mid-Cayuga County. I was starting to worry about heat/drought stress in the vines.
