New Dundee market opens with community spirit
Dundee Fresh Grocery has officially opened, bringing fresh local produce and an in-store kitchen to connect and nourish the community in Yates Countyfingerlakes1.comfingerlakes1.com.
Working Class Coffee expanding to Geneva
Working Class Coffee, a popular Canandaigua café known for its small-batch brews and casual fare, is opening a second shop in Geneva by late Septemberfingerlakes1.com.
Sept. 25 BBQ to Benefit Palliative Care at Nursing Home
“Clucks for Bucks,” an annual chicken barbecue benefitting palliative care, returns on Thursday, Sept. 25, in the parking lot of Crosswinds Wesleyan Church, 3360 Middle Cheshire Road in Canandaigua.
The drive-thru event will begin at 3 p.m. and continue until the chicken is sold out. Prepared by Grove Barbecue Company of Naples, meals will include a marinated half chicken, salt potatoes, coleslaw, and a dinner roll.
The cost is $15 per person, cash or check only. Proceeds benefit the Palliative Care Program at the 178-bed M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, the nonprofit skilled-nursing facility operated by UR Medicine Thompson Health on Parrish Street in Canandaigua.
Thompson to Host Sept. 25 Job Fair
UR Medicine Thompson Health is hosting a job fair from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, at F.F. Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St.
The job fair will take place in the cafeteria, located on the ground floor of the hospital’s Constellation Center for Health and Healing. Enter via The Thompson Way, a private drive off West Street.
Hiring managers will be on hand for on-site interviews during the event.
The health system is Ontario County’s largest employer and was on the 2025 “Top 150 Places to Work in Healthcare” list published by Becker’s Hospital Review. It also received Platinum recognition on the American Heart Association’s 2024 Well-being Works Better™ Scorecard for creating a healthy and effective work environment. In addition, Thompson recently received both the Gold Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health from Mental Health America and a silver Well Workplace Award from the Wellness Alliance.
