YMCA to Host Thompson’s ‘Strong Bones’ Program Oct. 14
Dr. Paul T. Rubery of UR Medicine Orthopaedics & Physical Performance will present “Strong Bones: Osteoporosis Update 2025” at the Sands Family YMCA on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 14.

The public is invited to attend the free event, which will be held at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at the YMCA, 351 North St. in Canandaigua. A board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with three decades of experience, Rubery will discuss how osteoporosis affects bones and will also talk about healthy lifestyle choices and medical treatments for healthy bones.
The event is presented by UR Medicine Thompson Health, in collaboration with the YMCA.

Regional Stroke Support Group Meets Via Zoom Oct. 2
The regional Stroke Support Group hosted by UR Medicine Thompson Health will meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, via Zoom.
The group is open to stroke survivors as well as their loved ones and caregivers. To be added to the invite list for the Oct. 2 meeting, email [email protected].
F.F. Thompson Hospital is a New York State Department of Health-designated Stroke Center and has advanced certification from The Joint Commission as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center. The hospital is also a recipient of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally accepted, research-based guidelines.

Wood Library invites community members of all ages to a special haunted house event!
10 AM-1 PM: Families can enjoy a special “lights on” tour of the haunted house with fun Halloween activities for kids along with festive music.
3 PM-6 PM: The library transforms into a truly spooky space. Brave visitors can walk through our darkened hallways and explore each of the themed areas filled with eerie surprises.

Learn to line dance and see what all the fun is about! The cost is $10 per person.
