Physician Assistant Joins Thompson’s Lima Practice
Physician Assistant Bailey Peinkofer recently joined F.F. Thompson Hospital’s Lima Family Practice, 7325 Community Drive in Lima.
Bailey Peinkofer
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from SUNY Buffalo, Peinkofer obtained a Master of Health Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pa. Prior to joining Thompson, she worked as a physician assistant at Bradford Family Medicine in Bradford, Pa. for four years. Peinkofer is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Lock and Talk Community Forum Set for Sept. 26
Help keep Ontario County families safe by attending the Lock and Talk Community Forum on Tuesday, September 26. It’s designed to be a collective effort to promote awareness, education, and responsible practices that will ultimately save lives, with healthcare, mental health, and law enforcement experts shedding light on the critical importance of locking up guns and medications in homes and places of business. The presenters will share data from our region, emphasizing the role individuals can play in reducing the risk of suicide/self-harm and overdoses, lowering crime, and keeping our children safe.
The forum will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Stage 14 on the second floor of the Student Center at Finger Lakes Community College, 3325 Marvin Sands Drive in Canandaigua. Presenters/panelists will include Senior Health Educator Christy Richards of Ontario County Public Health, Ontario County Mental Health Director of Community Services Jessica Mitchell, Ontario County Undersheriff Michael Rago, and Dr. Mark Gestring, Chief of Acute Care Surgery and Trauma for the University of Rochester Medical Center. Thompson Health Executive Vice President/COO Kurt Koczent will serve as the moderator.

All six wines bottled in 2021 under the Synthesis label at the Finger Lakes Community College Viticulture and Wine Center were awarded medals in the New York Wine Classic competition this summer.

September Birthstone
The sapphire is one of most well known stones around the world and is the birthstone for September. It is officially the blue version of corundum with the ruby as the red variety. Its name comes from sappheiros, which connected it with lapis lazuli, and has many of the same attributes credited to it. Another source indicates it is from Latin sapphirus, which means “blue”.
