Thompson to Host Info Sessions on Becoming a CNA

UR Medicine Thompson Health is hosting information sessions on Friday, June 6, for those interested in beginning careers as certified nursing assistants (CNAs).

Thompson covers the entire cost of the five-week CNA training course and pays participants while enrolled, with part-time benefits beginning immediately. Course graduates are guaranteed a CNA position at Thompson’s M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center. Newly hired CNAs are expected to remain employed – in a full- or part-time position – for at least one year from certification. If they plan to further their education, they are eligible for tuition reimbursement initiatives and grants from Thompson, as well as promotional opportunities.

The one-hour information sessions on June 6 will be offered at both 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Continuing Care Center, 350 Parrish Street in Canandaigua.

Those planning to attend must first register by emailing [email protected] and are encouraged to allow themselves extra time to find parking.

Jennifer Gephart

Nurse Practitioner Joins Thompson Internal Medicine Practice

Jennifer Gephart recently joined the Farmington location of UR Medicine Thompson Health’s Canandaigua Medical Group Internal Medicine practice.

Gephart is an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) who is certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center. She is a resident of Henrietta. At Keuka College, she received her bachelor’s in nursing, her master’s in nursing education, and her post-master’s certificate as an AGPCNP.

At the Internal Medicine location in Farmington, Gephart joins Drs. Wilfredo Cruz and Reihaneh Derafsh as well as Family Nurse Practitioner Katie Schaeffer McCool.

Previously, Gephart worked as an AGPCNP with Finger Lakes Health. She was also a Clinical Instructor in the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES nursing program in Newark. In addition, Gephart was both a Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor and a RN Quality Control Coordinator at Thompson prior to becoming an AGPCNP.

Friends of Wood Library proudly sponsors a benefit piano concert at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 183 North Main Street, Canandaigua, NY. All proceeds will support Wood Library.

Claudio Espejo is an award-winning pianist and teacher based in Pennsylvania. Claudio is an international performer who has performed in the United States, South America, and across Europe.

Claudio will help us explore the music of the Romantic period. Romanticism focuses on expressing emotions, and the music that Claudio will perform will present both sides of the spectrum of feelings: quiet and intimate, and public and thunderous. The concert will feature works by Chopin and Clara Schumann and some original compositions by Claudio.

Tickets are $22 in advance or $25 at the door. All tickets include light refreshments and an opportunity to meet the performer at a reception after the concert. Purchase tickets.
